As a Data Engineer, you will build and operate scalable infrastructure for Data, Machine Learning, and Analytics. You will develop and maintain reliable batch and real-time data pipelines, and implement data-intensive services that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence workloads.
In this role, you will work closely with Data Scientists to take models from experimentation to production, ensure that data is reliably stored and accessible in our Lakehouse, and enable other teams to make data-driven decisions.
You will be part of our AI team, which creates robust and innovative solutions that increase the value, efficiency and reliability of our AI based predictive analytics.
As Data Engineer you will
Design, build, and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines.
Set up, operate, and improve Machine Learning and Analytics infrastructure.
Support Data Scientists in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining models in production.
Develop data processing services and internal tools for ingestion, transformation, and validation.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for data systems and pipelines.
This is what we believe is needed for this role
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or in a similar role.
Strong experience with Linux-based systems, containerization, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong experience with distributed data processing (Spark, Trino, Flink, Kafka) and open table formats (Delta, Iceberg).
Proficiency in Python for data processing development.
Experience building and maintaining batch and/or real-time pipelines.
Experience with SQL and data modeling for analytics and BI use cases.
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and strong problem-solving skills.
Fluency in English.
Bonus Points
Understanding of JVM-based systems and tooling, particularly in the context of Spark.
Experience working in hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud, especially AWS).
Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data and ML systems.
Experience with MLOps or model lifecycle management.

This role can be performed remotely in Portugal, or hybrid/office in Coimbra, Portugal. No matter the setup you choose we expect you to be available to work in our Coimbra office once a month. This regularity is an average and should be adjusted to your and company needs.
